More detail on this person: Kally J. Bergstrom, 73, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Graveside, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 3:30 PM at Hickory Bluff Cemetery officiated by Pastor Tom Bird. Military Honors provided by North Berrien Military Rites Team. Memorial contributions may be made to Nephcure Kidney International. Those wishing to leave a condolence for the family may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. Kally was born December 7, 1944 in Benton Harbor, MI to Carl W. & Marie C. Haase. He graduated in 1962 from Benton Harbor High School and later went on to attend LMC, receiving his associates degree in the tool and die industry. Kally proudly served his country in the United States Army starting on February 14, 1967. He was a Chief Warrant Officer Helicopter Pilot on 129 Assault Helicopter during the Vietnam War. Kally was honorably discharged on December 10, 1969. On May 1, 1971 he wed Shirley Arndt in St. Joseph, MI. He worked at Whirlpool as a journeyman for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion Post 362 in Coloma for 12 years, a member of the 129 Assault Helicopter Company and the Blossomland Amateur Radio Association. In his spare time he enjoyed being on HAM radio, signature number N8AUU for almost 40 years, playing pool with his friends and riding his Victory motorcycle. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 47 years; son Greg Gettersen of New Buffalo; daughter Sheri (Donald III) Torrey of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Kayley Bergstrom and Landon Torrey and brother Terry (Cathy) Bergstrom of Middleville, MI and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Barry Bergstrom and sister Sandra Holley.
