More detail on this person: William L. "Bill" Byers, Jr., age 59, of Highland Village, TX, passed
away, Sunday, August 16, 2009.
Bill was born September 7, 1949 in Indiana, PA to William and Delores Overbeck Byers. He grew up in
Largo, FL and married Jane Andrews on August 14, 1982 in Atlanta, GA. Bill served in the United
States Army during the Vietnam War. He flew helicopters as a member of 2nd 17th Calvary Division
101st Air Borne and was decorated with a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and
numerous other combat medals for his service. His Unit was recently awarded a Presidential Unit
Citation. He was a member of North Texas Jeep Club and Falcon R.C. Club. Bill was a respected
Captain of ASA Airlines for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jane of Highland Village; sons, Billy Byers and wife Haley
of Ft. Hood, TX, David Byers of Highland Village and Travis Byers of Georgia; daughter, Tisha of
Georgia; father, John Marshall of North Carolina, sisters, Karen Erickson of Florida and Doreen
Byers of North Carolina; brother-in-law, George Wall; also extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Marshall. Funeral services will be 11 am, Monday,
August 24, 2009 at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Lewisville. Burial will be 11 a.m.,
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of
Lewisville is in charge of arrangements. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Paralyzed
Veterans of America at www.pva.org
