Broadwell, III, age 65, a resident of Kings
Mountain, died July 28, 2010 at Kings Mountain
Hospice House. Born in Greenville, NC, son of the
late Fred Jarratt Broadwell, Jr. In addition to
his father, he was also preceded in death by his
wife Mary Leigh Mauney Broadwell. He graduated
from Clinton High School, Clinton, NC in 1963 and
also a graduate of N.C. State University in
Textile Engineering. He served in the United
States Army being drafted as a Private and rose to
the rank of Captain. In 1965 Mr. Broadwell was a
highly decorated pilot in Vietnam receiving awards
that include Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Bronze
Stars with "V" for valor and twenty three Air
Medals. He was Founder and President of
Diversified Fabrics, Inc. in Kings Mountain and
served twenty years on the Board of Directors for
BB&T.

and wife Elaina, Austin, Texas Jennifer Broadwell,
Boca Raton, Fl. Talie Manning and husband Mike,
St. Louis, MO Rich Turner and wife Nicole,
Clarksville, TN Julie Lueck and husband Chris,
Charlotte, NC Jim Tharrington and wife Karla,
Raleigh, NC; Grandchildren: 10.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Central United Methodist
Church, Kings Mountain Friday, July 30, 2010. 1:00
P.M. Rev. Rex Gibbs, officiating.
VISITATION: Immediately following the service in
the Christian Activity Center of Central United
Methodist Church.
