More detail on this person: On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Terry Alan Bailey, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 71. Terry was born on September 02, 1947 in Hogensville, GA to Melvin and Mary (Ridings) Bailey. On August 09, 1968, he married Linda Jane Black. They raised a daughter, Tara. Terry enlisted in the United States Army after graduating from The Marion Institute in 1967 and went to helicopter flight school after which he was deployed to Vietnam. Terry was proud to serve his country and did so with distinction for 26 years garnering several medals including a Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service Medal, the US Department of Labor Valor Award and several others prior to his discharge in 1991. Terry was employed with OSHA from 1978-2002. From where he retired as the Assistant Area Director and used his knowledge of safety compliance on a worldwide scale by assisting in the rebuilding of Poland's infrastructure. After his retirement, Terry focused on his love of nature by nurturing his garden and his yard and by fishing. He was also active in the weekly activities at Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, including singing in the choir. Terry enjoyed playing cards at the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with fellow veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, JT and Virginia Black. He is survived by his loving wife and daughter; his sister, Charlotte Breece; his brother, Lamar Bailey; and several nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly. Services for Terry will be held at Ridout's Valley Chapel on Oxmoor Road in Homewood, AL with visitation from 11am - 12pm and a service at noon. He will be buried at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at 2pm. Memorials may be made in his honor to Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 513 Old Columbiana Road, Homewood, AL 35209.
