More detail on this person: Memorial Services for Herbert (Herb) Wilson Broadus 71, of Wills
Point, Texas will be held on August 1, 2015, at 11:00am, at the Chapel of the Lake with Military
Honors.
Herb passed away on July 19, 2015, in his home in Wills Point, after a valiant fight with colon
cancer.
He was born on August 16, 1943 and adopted by the late Herbert Morris Broadus and Elise McGreggor
Broadus. He married Brigitte West on September 17, 2011.
Herb became a CH47 pilot in the Army and flew countless missions in Vietnam including Lam Son 719.
He earned numerous medals including the Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, and
many more. He stayed in the Army for another 12 years and discharged in 1983. His passion for flying
took him into the Private sector and was a Helicopter pilot for Airlog-Bristow from 1983 to 2011,
flying in the Gulf of Mexico. He was very passionate about his job, always saying he gets to full
fill his passion for flying and gets paid for it. There are stories going around Bristow about some
of his heroic flying that make the hair on your neck stand up.
Herb also loved his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, having owned one since age 12. While living in
Pensacola Florida, he would ride his bike to work in Galliano, Louisiana, many times. After moving
to Texas he did the same, always ready for a ride.
He was a member of Bikers for Christ Motorcycle Ministry and loved witnessing to other bikers about
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents and his son David Broadus who bravely died in Afganisthan.
He is survived by his wife Brigitte, sons Shawn and Aaron Broadus, stepsons Robert and Michael
McAlister, sisters Eileen Broadus, Carolyn Snow and Mary Brown, nephew Randall Snow, plus
numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Herb (Abair) loved his ministry and requested that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to Bikers
for Christ in care of Brigitte West.
