More detail on this person: Henry (Hank) Nelson Bourdo Hank passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. He was born March 13, 1940. For nearly ten years, he faced numerous medical challenges resulting from Agent Orange exposure. He was a devoted military serviceman who entered the U.S. Army in October 1958. One of his first assignments was serving as a Military Police Officer in New York City. Throughout his career, he served in a variety of roles, including two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot from 1966 to 1967 and again from 1970 to 1971. During his service in Vietnam, he received the Air Medal for Heroism. One of his most memorable assignments was serving as a lifeguard at Fort DeRussy Beach in Hawaii. After serving in both active duty and the Army Reserve, he officially retired in 2000 following 34 years of service. He was a devoted Christian and was a member of First Methodist Church Winters. He dearly loved his church family and was proud to worship with them. He was a member of the Wingate Masonic lodge and a Scottish Rite mason. Hank is survived by his wife Jane of 39 years, one son, Timothy Osterberg (Tiffany), grand children Kelcy and Garth, brothers Phillip, Robert and, Rick Marshall and his favorite niece nurse Kim Shuster Mayhew, Jane's siblings Curt (Janice), Irene, Robert (Karen), Kenneth (Tori), William (Melanie) and Jeff (Cheryl). He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Daniel and Mary Frances Bourdo, brother John and his beloved sister Wanda. Hank leaves behind stories of his many travels, experiences and wisdom he gained throughout his 86 years. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Methodist Church Winters, Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warrior Project or Meals on Wheels, Abilene.
