More detail on this person: Jimmy Dale Bright, 71, of Dothan died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at a local hospital.

Services with military honors will be held 2 pm Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Lilly officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the Sunset Reception Center. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 2200 Riverchase Center, Suite 604, Birmingham, AL, 35244.

Mr. Bright was born October 30, 1939 in Snyder, TX. He lived his early life in Pyote, TX and graduated from high school there. He joined the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam as an aviator. He was a member of the Silver Eagle's Helicopter Demonstration Team and when he retired as a CW4 he was stationed in Ft. Hood, TX. Following his military career he returned to school and received his Masters degree from American Technological University and then went on to be an instructor of aeronautical subjects at Central Texas College in Killeen, TX. Mr. Bright was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ft. Walton Beach and attended Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Winnie Bright, and a brother Charles Bright.

Survivors include his wife Susan Bright of Dothan; a daughter Renee' Melius of Texas; a stepson Bruce Aldridge of Grove Oak, AL; a stepdaughter Taryn Gillespie and her husband Kevin of Dothan; 8 grandchildren; a brother Chester Bright of Stuart, FL; a sister Elgene Whittiker of Austin, TX; and a special pet dog MeMe.
