More detail on this person: BARSKY, CONNIE ALEXANDER JR., 66, of Dunedin, died Thursday (March 25, 2004) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., came to Florida in 1958, and returned here after his retirement in 1980 from Virginia. He was a retired Marine Corps colonel and worked for the Pinellas County School District as Area I supervisor for 20 years. He graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics in New York City and attended naval aviation training in Pensacola. He enlisted in the Navy and was commissioned in the Marine Corps. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam and served White House duty as a presidential helicopter pilot under Richard Nixon and Lyndon Johnson. He served as aircraft maintenance officer during most of his 22-year military career. He earned the Purple Heart, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Air Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Presidential Service Badge. He was an active member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, Safety Harbor, and member of the Family Motor Coach Association, Good Sam Club, Mercedes-Benz Club of America, National Rifle Association, Retired Officers Club, Marine Corps League, Marine Corps Association, United States Navy League, Naval Institute, VFW, Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, and life member of the Military Officers Association. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Vermillion Barsky; four daughters, Christine Helen Barsky, Little Rock, Ark., Carol-Lynn Barsky, Santa Clara, Calif., Amanda McKeller, Australia, and Terri Lynn Logsdon, Grand Junction, Colo.; two sons, Stephen Edward Walker, Columbia S.C., and Todd Christopher Walker, Woodstock, Ga.; a brother, Henry Simon, Cary, N.C.; and nine grandchildren. Curlew Hills Funeral Home, Palm Harbor.
