More detail on this person: David Bruce Burless, born June 11, 1947, of Auburn, MI, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 10, 2016. Visitation with the family will be held at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. in on Monday, May 16 from 11:00 am 1:00 pm. At 1:00 pm we will proceed to the Auburn Veterans' Memorial at the Auburn Park (Auburn Rd. & U.S. 10). The Auburn-Williams Lions Club will have a prayer service for Dave. Followed by a Military Committal Service under the auspices of the Bay Area Veterans Council to take place at 1:30 p.m. Dave is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Jane Burless and too many well-loved friends to name. Dave is survived by his sisters Andrea Burless and Connie Wines; his son, Nathan Burless; wife, Michelle Burless; and grandchildren, Skylar and Brennan; as well as his daughter, Krissa Corkins, husband, Chad Corkins; and nephew, Christopher Wines. Dave was born in Bay City to Andrew and Jane Burless. He married Barbara Brown on February 16, 1969 and while since-divorced they remained friends for life. He graduated from Handy High School in 1965. Dave worked as a Machine Repairman at GM for over 25 years. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served as a Helicopter Pilot in the Army. Dave volunteered at the local VA Hospital where he was actively involved in the MOVE program. He was involved in several organizations including the Auburn-Williams Lions Club. He was warm, generous and had an amazing sense of humor. He was passionate about many hobbies including hunting, hiking Isle Royal, fishing, golf, camping, and an occasional triathlon. Dave was known as Dad, Brother, and Friend. He was loved by many and went by many nicknames: FurFace, Furfo, Cookie, Grandpa Cookie, Turkey, Crocket, Super. Memorials in Dave's name may be given to the Auburn Veteran's Memorial or to the American Diabetes Association.
