More detail on this person: Biography: Jon M. Bourland age: 60; DOB: 3/24/1941. Died: 1/26/2002 of colon cancer in Mesa, AZ. Jon enlisted in the U.S. Army at St. Louis, MO in July of 1968, a year after being discharged from the USAF. During his 8 year enlistment (USAF) he was a gunner on a B-52. I met Jon in St. Louis the day we enlisted in the US Army. There were 8 of us going to Ft. Polk for basic training. Jon was put in charge of the group as he was several years older with prior military experience, and became our mentor and provided us with guidance. After completing flight school, class: 69-21, he was sent to Ft. Eustis, VA for AMOC and Cobra Transition School before going to Vietnam. He retired June 1980 at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. Other accomplishments: Retired MDHC; Associate Professor for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University; Pilot Instructor, Flight Crew Training, at America West Airlines. He is survived by his wife, Lorena of Mesa, AZ, four children and eight grandchildren. She may be contacted through Richard R. Crow, Sr.
