More detail on this person: LTC (Ret) Robert T. Bagley, Ph.D., age 78, passed away on Friday, October 29th, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Wanda, of Puyallup, and son, Robert Jr. (Kim), of Everett. He was predeceased by his daughter, Robin, 9 years ago. Bob Sr. fought so valiantly against a sudden illness these past three weeks, but to our unfathomable sorrow, succumbed. Bob Sr. was the last survivor of 4 brothers born to a small mining town couple in Mullan, Idaho. His father, James Herman Bagley, was killed in a mining accident when Bob Sr. was in 2nd grade. He was in and out of state orphanages for a period of time and also went to live with his Uncle Bill in Republic, Washington. He eventually went back to Mullan and finished high school there. He began working in the hard-rock silver mines in Burke, Idaho with his lifelong friend, Donald Jutila.

Bob Sr. was drafted a private at Ft. Lewis and with the sole reasoning to get out of the rain...went to Officer's Candidate School (OCS) in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Other than his love of God and family, the Army was the best thing that ever happened to him and he never looked back...becoming an officer, going to fixed wing airplane pilot school, followed by helicopter school. He flew the radial engine Otter in Germany, Korea, and also flew the UH-1 Huey helicopter in Vietnam. He helped build orphanages in Korea and Vietnam, always having a soft spot for the orphans as he once was. He had many entertaining stories of his military years. He retired a Lt. Colonel at Ft. Lewis in 1974, ending his military career there.

He then launched another career after earning a Ph.D. in psychology to practice as a Washington State licensed psychologist and set out to save the World on Puyallup's South Hill, counseling folks down on their luck, treating addictions, and helping married couples. He helped so many people. Bob Sr. and Wanda retired in 2004 and have enjoyed their home, hobbies, and friends since then. Bob Sr. was the eternal optimist and always saw the good in people, no matter their faults, and always greeted you warmly with a smile. We are all so lucky that Bob Sr. touched our lives.

Burial will be at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent on Friday at 10:15 a.m., November 5th, 2010.

A celebration of his life memorial service and reception will be at 1:00 p.m. at Summit Christian Fellowship Church, 3714 E. 84th St., Tacoma, WA 98446.

Memorials in memory of Bob can be made to Summit Christian Fellowship.
