More detail on this person: AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, June 29, 2009 at University Hospital, Mr. Lowell Baltzell, 83, husband of 61 years to Mrs. Kathleen Ford Baltzell. Mr. Baltzell was born in Pierpont, South Dakota. He was a retired Army LTC, having served 31 years, many of these as an aviator, which included World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was an accomplished woodworker, a hobby he enjoyed even during his late illness. Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Linda Baltzell Wright of Birmingham, AL, Cheri (John) McEneaney of Rochester, Michigan, Amy Patrick of Augusta, Mary Kay Baltzell of Atlanta; son: Micheal L. Baltzell of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren: Lauren and Alex Wright, Matthew Baltzell, Anna Patrick, Kathleen and Sarah McEneaney; one sister: Alpha Thorson of Miller, South Dakota; sister-in-law: Alys Williams of Thompson Station and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents: Nolan and Alvida Baltzell and 2 brothers. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Van Alstine celebrant. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full Military Honors. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the CSRA Woodworkers Club and the Savannah River Woodturners Club: Larry David, Dick Lacharite, George Stewart, Nathan Dean, Regis Quintin, Bob Sloane, Norm Shelby and Ernest Poole. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association , 1105 Furys Lane, Suite D., Augusta, GA 30907.
