More detail on this person: Lt. Colonel Hayes B. Banks, US Army (Ret.), 76, of Freehold Township
died Monday, July 28, 2014 at home. He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lt. Colonel Banks served in
the U.S. Army from 1962 until his retirement in 1991. His service included tours of duty in the
United States, Europe and Korea. He also served two combat tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot.
Hayes was a graduate of Morgan State University and attended graduate school at the University of
Southern California. Additionally, Lt. Colonel Banks was a lifetime member of Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity.
Hayes is survived by his wife, Kasandrea Justice Banks; two sons, Colonel Bernard Banks, US Army
(wife-Candice) and Brian Banks (wife-Cheryl); three brothers, James, Eugene and Ernie Banks; sister,
Joyce Douglas; mother-in-law, Charlene Justice; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday at
2:00 p.m. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a date yet to be determined.
