More detail on this person: Steven Robert "Steve" Bartlett Sr., 68, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Service: An inurnment celebrating Steve's life and remembering his service to our country will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Steve was born Dec. 14, 1946, in Tacoma, Wash., to Hazel Helen and Norbert "Shorty" Bartlett. After graduating from high school, Steve enlisted in the United States Army and trained to be a helicopter pilot. Steve had a distinguished history with the Army, ranking as a chief warrant officer. He was on active duty from June 3, 1966, to April 15, 1974, logging over 1,200 combat hours. He served two tours in Vietnam, the first in 1967 and again in 1970. Steve was awarded multiple honors and awards for acts done in connection with his two tours in Vietnam, including numerous Purple Hearts and two Distinguished Flying Cross awards for his bravery. When asked about his heroic acts, he always replied, "We all were just fighting to bring our brothers home." After his service in Vietnam, Steve taught helicopter lessons and performed in air shows at Fort Stewart in Savannah, Ga., where he earned additional honors and awards. Upon moving to Arlington in 1973, Steve worked while earning his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating in 1977. Steve was a kind and generous man, who was always eager to help people in need. He will be missed. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry; and sister, Kathryn. Survivors: Steve leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer Bartlett; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and John Augustat; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jill Bartlett; grandchildren, Andrew and Lauren Farlow (Augustat), Tanner and Gwenyth Bartlett, and John Michael Augustat; and beloved cousins and friends, with many of whom he shared great golf games.
