More detail on this person: Long time Alaskan, William Edward Bolling, 73, lost his 18 year battle with cancer on May 27, 2014, at home in Mount Olive, Mississippi, under the loving care of his wife of 37 years, Dianne, and Camellia Hospice. William was born and raised in Mississippi and served 13 years in the US Army where he learned to fly helicopters. During his 3 tours in Vietnam, he saved many lives at the risk of his own. He was highly decorated for his service and left the Army as a captain. William moved to Alaska in 1975, where he made his living as a bush pilot, flying both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. In a remote mineral exploration camp in the Alaska Range in 1976, he met Dianne, and the next year they married and started their family. William and Dianne retired and moved from Alaska in 2012. William is survived by his wife, Dianne; and three daughters, Lynda Bolling in Anchorage, Elizabeth Van Patten and husband, Erik in Anchorage, and Amanda Cornilles and husband, Nathan; and two grandchildren, Emma and Joshua in Eagle River; his sister, Dixie Womack and husband, P.D. in Mount Olive, MS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the Southern US. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 1st at his home in Mount Olive, Mississippi. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org
