Mr. Roger D. Byrd, Sr., 83, of Marietta, passed
away March 15, 2012. Mr. Byrd was born in
Oklahoma City. He graduated from St. Benedicts
College in Kansas and attended George
Washington University in Virginia. Mr. Byrd
proudly served his country for 30 years in the
U.S. Army including a tour in Vietnam as a
helicopter pilot and retired as a Lieutenant
Colonel. He always enjoyed traveling and was a
loving and devoted husband, father, and
grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 49
years, Joy Byrd, sons Roger Byrd, Jr (Barbara) and
Adam Byrd (Susan), daughters Barbara Haines
(David) and Susanne Gajewski (Mike) and
grandchildren Ashley, Dylan, Christina, John
David, Timothy, Tevyn and Tailei. The family will
have a private service. In lieu of flowers, please
