More detail on this person: Funeral services for CW4 Charles Ray Brown, 85, U.S. Army, Retired, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with full military honors. The Rev. Mitchell Muns will be officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Brown died Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Jacksonville Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Claire Brown; three grandsons, Jerrod Brown, Vance Brown and Richard Brown; two daughters-in-law, Rhonda Brown and Nancy Brown; two sisters, Anna Ruth Dishman and June Shannon; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Cypher, Frank Taylor and Bob Kitchens. Mr. Brown was retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service where he served as a Paratrooper during World War II, earning two Bronze Stars and he served as a Helicopter Pilot during two tours of Vietnam, earning many other awards and medals. Mr. Brown was a master craftsman, specializing in woodwork and had a fondness for historic preservation and antique restoration. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.
