Colonel George T. Burton, 87, of Lake Bluff died July 20 in the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago.

Born Dec. 8, 1916 in Danville, Va., he served his country with courage and dignity during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Army in 1969, he continued service to his community through his work at Great Lakes Naval Base, and the Northwest Illinois Council Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his son; Brad Burton of Mundelein; two daughters, Betty Burton of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Linda Lange of Waukegan; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 31 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home LTD, Libertyville. Interment was in Fort Sheridan Cemetery, Highwood. Memorials may be made to the Northeast Illinois Council Boy Scouts of America in his memory.
