More detail on this person: William W. "Bill" Barber, 85, died April 17, 2007, in Baker City.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 2177 First St.
Bill was a beloved husband, father, and "Beepa," who always had a special grin for his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren, his family said. Above all, he loved his family, his country, flying, and
the United States Marine Corps.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 31 years and retired with the rank of captain. He
served in three major engagements: World War II, the Korean conflict, and the Vietnam War. During
this time, he was honored with numerous medals and commendations for his distinguished service.
Bill Barber was a man of honor, integrity and passion, and he raised his family to follow in his
path.
"We will love and honor him for the great love and devotion he had for us all," his family said.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Pearl Barber, and his children, Marcy Timberman and
Gene Wertz, Larry and Christine Barber, Paul Barber, and Heidi and Vern Hull; grandchildren, Linda
Noteboom, Willie King, Rachel and Rick Bata, Shannon, Elizabeth, and David Hull and Jesse, Jordan,
and Leah Barber; four great-grandchildren, Melissa, Joann, and Christopher Noteboom and Ashlie Hull,
who were also the the delight of Bill's life.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Barber, who died at the age of 23
