More detail on this person: Lawrence P. Bedore
was born on Sept. 3, 1928, the son of Philip and
Jennie (Brousseau) Bedard.
Lawrence graduated from Sallaz Academy in
Redford in June of 1945. Following his graduation
he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. As a pilot, his
career included tours of duty in Okinawa, Labrador
and Thailand, where he flew helicopter rescue
missions into Vietnam.
Lawrence married the former D. Fay Young of
Elizabethtown, Pa., on Aug. 17, 1958. They have
one daughter, Yvonne, also of Morrisonville.
After his retirement from the Air Force with the
rank of Major, Lawrence made his home in
Washington, D.C. and attended the University of
Maryland, where he obtained his degree in business
adminstration and transportation. Subsequently, he
was employed by the Federal Aviation
Administration until his retirement, after which
Lawrence moved with his family back to his "roots"
and made his home in Morrisonville.
Since moving back to this area, Lawrence has been
very active in work with the Advocacy Resource
Center. He is a past member of the board of
directors serving on the Finance Committee and the
Building Committee. He is presently a member of
the board of directors of the Retardation
Services, Inc. The Bedores were the recipients of
the "Good Neighbor Award" in 1994 in appreciation
of their generosity in the donation of the
property on Pine Ridge Drive, which now houses a
residence for six adults. The residence was
dedicated to the Bedore family in September 1994.
They are also on the "Wall of Friends" in
recognition of their many charities.
Besides his wife and daughter, Lawrence is
survived by eight sisters, Mrs. Earl "Nora"
Pinkman of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Melvin "Theresa"
Bruno of Morrisonville, Mrs. John "Euna" Liberty
of Fern Lake, Mrs. Tommy "Ellen" Coates of
Morrisonville, Mrs. Andrew "Jennie" Tomasi of
Barre, Vt., Mrs. Randy "Sally" Gibson of Peru,
Miss Judy Bedard of Willsboro and Mrs. Robert
"Phyllis" Owens of Falls Church, Va.; also three
brothers, Ernest of Harkness, Philip of Jay and
Roy "Chuck" of Schuyler Falls.
A brother, Edmund and a sister, Alice predeceased
him.
In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, all
services will be private at the convenience of the
family.
