More detail on this person: Capt. Lawrence F. Beeunas, 69, of Lebanon, died of cancer April 8,
1995 at his son's home in San Diego, Calif. A memorial service was held April 14 at the NAS Miramar
chapel in San Diego. Steve Kappler officiated. Interment with military honors was at Fort
Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma, Calif. Beeunas was born Nov. 7, 1925 in Glen Lyon, Pa.,
the son of Frank and Josephine (Yankowski) Beeunas. He married Irene Blazewic in January 1949.
They divorced in April 1985. Beeunas served nearly 30 years in the U.S. Marine Coprs after joining
in 1943. Specializing in aviation electronics, he served during World War II and the Korean and
Vietnam wars. He retired as captain on Jan. 31, 1971. After leaving the service, he managed the
Elks Lodge in Yuma, Ariz. In January 1972, he moved to San Diego, where he managed the local
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for several years. He owned the Wrangler's Roost, a country-western
lounge in San Diego, from 1979 on. Beeunas was a life member of the VFW. He also belonged to the
Albany Eagles, the Albany American Legion Post and the Good Sam Club. He was an active member
of the Lebanon Santiam Sams and the Retired Officers Club of Corvallis. He enjoyed golfing,
fishing, traveling and camping. Surviving him are his wife, Ida Beeunas of Lebanon; sons Kenneth
Beeunas and Wayne Beeunas; step daughters, Cathy Hickman and Vella Lagao; and stepson Sean
Doyle, all of San Diego. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Turley of Statesville, NC;
brother Albert Beeunas of Metuchen, NJ; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. His son
David Beeunas preceded him death. Memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon Community
Hospital, Lebanon Soup Kitchen or Qualicenters' Albany Dialysis Center. [Lebanon Express (Lebanon,
