More detail on this person: BENGELE, CHARLES M. JR., 70, of Clearwater, died Thursday (July 18, 2002) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Pittsburgh and came here in 1971 from Quantico, Va., where he retired from the Marine Corps as a lieutenant colonel. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member and local detachment adjutant and comptroller of the Marine Corps League and was a former Department of Florida commandant and former Department of Florida judge advocate. He was a member of the Marine Mustang Association, the American Legion, the Vietnam Veterans Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Mary Thorpe; two sons, Charles M. III and Curtis M.; two daughters, Linda M. McKee and Diane E. Bengele; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, Cemetery & Cremation Services, Seminole.
