More detail on this person: A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in Forest Grove Memorial Chapel for Edward B. Blackman, who died Aug. 4 at age 80.

Mr. Edward B. Blackman was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Orlando, Fla., and moved to Jennings Lodge in 1929. He graduated from West Linn High School and attended the University of Washington before serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in China during World War II. After the war, he flew planes for United Airlines, then returned to the Army, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring in 1970. He had lived in Forest Grove since 1973, and in the late 1970s taught welding for Portland Community College. He was divorced from his first wife, Leola. He married Patricia Hutchinson in 1951; she died in 1995.

Survivors include his sons, Gary, Jon, Stephen and Robert; daughters, Terry A. and Bonnie J.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the technology fund at Visitation Catholic Church.
