More detail on this person: Mr. Ollie Webster (Freck) Boyd, Jr, 65, of Hogansville, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Boyd was born February 20, 1947 in Rome, son of the Mrs. Della Evans Boyd of Smyrna, and the late Ollie Webster Boyd, Sr. He was the owner and operator of LaGrange Pest Control and was formerly employed by Air Logistics in Louisiana. Mr. Boyd was a graduate of Auburn University and a lifetime member of the N. R. A. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corp., he was a Captain having served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot with Squadron HMH 463.

Survivors in addition to his mother include a wife of 44 years, Shirley Cheatwood Boyd; daughters and sonsin-law, Tracy and Neil Awbrey of Carrollton and Kelly and Ryan McGrath of Columbia, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Karen Boyd of LaGrange and Tyler and Sarah Boyd of Hampstead, NC; 10 grandchildren, Eli Awbrey, Sam Awbrey, Asa Awbrey, Jake Awbrey, Bennett Awbrey, Molly McGrath, Ava McGrath, Jack McGrath, Brandon Boyd, and Haley Grace Boyd; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Ronald Chipman and Pat and Mike Mosgovoy; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 Friday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Neil Awbrey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
