More detail on this person: William John Brennan February 21, 1943 - August 27, 2023 William (Bill) Brennan retired to Guntersville in 2004 from the United States Army after serving thirty - two years in uniform. During his career he served two tours as a helicopter pilot in the Republic of Vietnam, numerous stateside assignments, and "short term" deployments to Germany, Korea, and Venezuela. He also served as a fixed wing pilot, pilot instructor, maintenance officer, and aviation safety officer at the brigade level. During his retirement, Bill served the community through the Guntersville Civitan, and Marshall Shrine Club and was a member of the Church of the Epiphany in Guntersville. He was an active member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 18, and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Veterans 4 Veterans Foundation. Bill is survived by his wife Nancy Brennan, and daughter Patricia Brennan Lipe (Brian) (born to Verna Brennan), granddaughters Megan and Sara. Brother-in-law Jerry Phillips, nieces Cathy Lello-Phillips, and Jennifer Phillips Epolito (Bill) and their daughters Hannah and Josey. Bill is also survived by four stepdaughters, seven step grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held August 31, 2023 at Carr Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial at 2:00 p.m. A burial with full military honors will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to your favorite charity, church, or shelter.
