Brown, of New Bern, died suddenly, Sunday, March
10, 2013, at the age of 72. Bob was born in
Carlinville, Illinois, the son of William R. and
Eileen Brown. He received his Bachelors degree at
Southern Illinois University and his masters at
George Washington University. He was a veteran of
the Vietnam War where he flew helicopters and
later KC-130's. He had a reputation as an
excellent Marine officer and fine pilot who served
in the United States Marine Corps for 27 years.
After retirement, Bob worked as the first manager
of Fairfield Harbor's POA from 1991 to 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy
(Maxiener) Brown of New Bern; his two children,
Shannon Allen and her husband, Gary, of Cary, and
Michael Brown and his wife, Brooke, of Charlotte;
and his four grandchildren; Miles, Mason, Noah,
and Griffin.
Colonel Brown loved his country, his family,
traveling, staying active, and golf. Memorial
services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at
First Presbyterian Church in New Bern.

Presbyterian Church, New Bern, NC or to the
Wounded Warriors Project, New Bern, NC.
