SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Wayne Rex Bryan, 68, will begin at 1:00
p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, with interment following at Forest
Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Officiating will be Dr. Pat Day. The family will receive friends
from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6th, at Osborn Funeral Home, Southern Avenue.
Rex was born December 5, 1942 in Springhill, Louisiana and passed away in his sleep, Monday, July 4,
2011 at his home. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University receiving a Bachelors and Masters
Degree in Business. He was also a graduate of the Institute for International Studies in Japan. He
served in the U. S. Marine Corp, earning the rank of Captain, and did a tour of duty in Vietnam as a
helicopter pilot.
Rex was a Certified Economic Developer and a partner with Lea Hall Properties. He received the
Presidential Award from the Louisiana Industrial Development Executives Association and two
Presidential citations from the American Bankers Association. Rex was a member of LIDEA, VFW, and
was the first president of the Super Derby. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Shreveport, and the Desiderata Sunday School Class.
Rex, a kind, gentle person with a quick wit, had the unique ability to make friends and was a good
friend to so many. He loved spending time outdoors at his farm but his greatest love was God and
family. He also possessed a patriotic pride and love for his country.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne H. Bryan and Margaret Smith Bryan. He is survived
by his wife of 42 years, Diane Alexander Bryan; their daughter, Jennifer Bryan Mahoney of
Shreveport, LA; their son, Jeffrey Alexander Bryan and wife, Brooke of Shreveport, LA; three
grandchildren Christopher, Ariel, and Autumn; and his brother, Robin Winfrey Bryan and wife, Gloria
of Shreveport, LA.Honoring Rex as pallbearers will be James Blewett, Freddie Brown, Chuck Chesley,
Tom Eason, Bill Golden, and Jamie Moreland. The men of the Desiderata Sunday School Class will
serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family suggests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or the charity of your
choice.
