COMMANDER OF SQD. 302 Major Gordon H.
Buckner, Oxford, Ohio, as a Naval Reserve Officer
Candidate. He was commissioned a second
lieutenant on June 7,1954 when he entered the
Marine Corps. During his tour in the Republic of
Vietnam, Major Buckner commanded Marine COL
Gordon H Buckner
Air Base Squadron -36. Before coming to the air
facility he flew with Marine Medium Helicopter
Squadron-362 in Vietnam. He was born Aug. 6.
1932 in St. Clair, Michigan to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
H. Buckner. The major is married to the ing"
officer, passed the squadron's colors to Major
Buckner as his last official act before a squadron
size, formation at the Santa Ana Marine Corps Air
Facility. The new commanding officer, Major
Buckner. began his military career while at- of
Tustin, Marine Medium Helicopter graining
Squadron-302 executive officer, became the
commanding- officer April 19 during a forma change
