More detail on this person: William "Bill" E. Bunton, 78, of Benton, LA, passed away on March 6, 2019, due to complications from a long-time illness. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 10, from 2-4 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA. Interment will take place privately at a later late. Bill was born in Shreveport, LA, on October 12, 1940, to John H. and Elsie Redden Bunton. He graduated from C. E. Byrd High School in 1959 and continued on to receive a degree in Animal Husbandry from Louisiana Tech University. He entered into the U.S. Army as a warrant officer and was later commissioned as a First Lieutenant then Captain serving two tours in Vietnam as a Cobra pilot and gun ship pilot. Bill was an avid horseman and roper who put himself through college by training and showing horses. He traveled around the United States, Canada, and Mexico as a certified All-Around and Specialized AQHA judge for 25 years. Bill was also a dog lover, rarely without a canine companion. He started and helped run many gymkhana and horse programs in Colorado and Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Hartley Ann. William "Bill" Bunton is survived by wife Connie, daughter Callie, grandson Bruce, step-son Kristopher Doll and his children Octavion and Ximena (of New Orleans), first wife Dixie Sylvester Ferrata, and numerous family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Northwest LA Veteran's Home, 3130 Arthur Ray Teague Pkwy. Bossier City, LA 71112. The family wishes to thank friends Randall Roy, James Lehane, Donnie Leflett, Roy Eason, Pancho Cordoba,and Ginger Ramsey as well as the staff at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and the Northwest LA Veteran's Home.
