More detail on this person: Lieut James Frederick Barrett, Jr was the son of James Frederick Barrett. He grew up in La Crosse County, Wisconsin. He joined the military and served in Vietnam. In October 1970, he and two friends, Joseph Sowa and Richard Funk, went duck hunting in a 16-ft boat along Knik Arm, south of Anchorage. Their boat was later discovered empty and despite an extensive air search, the three men were never located. James was the father of one daughter and three sons.
