More detail on this person: A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 1998, in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Vancouver, Wash., for Robert Eugene ''Reb'' Bateman, who died of a pneumothorax March 2 at age 50.

Mr. Bateman was born Jan. 17, 1948, in Seattle. He was a combat helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He moved to Vancouver in 1986. He was a commercial helicopter pilot. He married Jeannette Ruth Dezsofi in 1992.

Survivors include his wife, daughter, Alissa J. Bateman, and stepdaughter, Jeannette Alison Dezsofi, all of Vancouver; parents, Robert and Sarah of Seattle; brother, Paul of Bothell, Wash.; and sister, Lucy Ray of Kent, Wash.

Interment will be in Evergeen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the American Lung Association or Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements are by Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
