Services for Charles R.W. Black, 45, of La Mesa,
were today in El Camino Mortuary. Burial was in El
Camino Memorial Park. He died Wednesday in a
hospital.
Mr. Black was born in Maryland, lived in the
county 25 years and had been a San Diego Fire
Department engineer. He was a member of the
International Association of Firefighters.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; a daughter,
Lori Nelson of La Mesa; two brothers, William, of
Ridgecrest, Calif., and John, of Pittsburgh; and a
sister, Rosellen Taylor of La Costa. The family
suggested donations to the San Diego Fireman's
Relief Association.
He was the son of LCDR Hubert Lawrence Worrell
and Rose Mary Manges Worrell Black. After LCDR
Worrell died in a military airplane crash, Rose
Mary married Johnson Adam Black, Jr. Charles and
the other Worrell children were raised in the
Black household, and all took on, and maintained
the names Worrell Black after both fathers.
