More detail on this person: Paul Edward Boyd,
62, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002. Born in Saint
Marys, Pa., and a graduate of Methodist College in
Fayetteville, N.C., he had been a Hampton resident
since 1979.
In 1981, he retired as a Major from the U.S. Army,
having served 20 years, including two tours in
Vietnam. Mr. Boyd then went to work in Civil
Service at Fort Eustis where he worked as a
planning specialist.
Mr. Boyd was a member of the Wicomico Hunt
Club and a volunteer for the Friends of Sandy
Bottom. He had been a volunteer and was named
Volunteer of the Year at the Fort Monroe YMCA.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Boyd;
two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Adel
Boyd of Dupont, Wash., Eric and Tanya Boyd of
Natchez, Miss.; one sister, Adrienne Baumgratz of
Saint Marys, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Brandan
Boyd of Hampton and Danielle Boyd of Dupont,
Wash.
A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m.
Sunday, April 28, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral
Home. The family will receive friends before the
service from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be
made to Relay For Life.
