More detail on this person: Boyle, Dennis M., retired U.S. Army Colonel, died 28 November 1998. Col. Boyle was born in Pittsburgh, PA 8 May 1931. He graduated from Western Maryland College in 1953, entered the Army as an Armor Officer and attended Army Flight Training in 1956, and the Navy Test Pilot School at Patuxent River, MD, in 1968. He served in Vietnam: 1963-64 and 1966-67. He was the Commanding Officer of the 18th Aviation Battalion in Fliegerhorst, Hanau, Germany and served as the War Plans Officer at V Corps, Frankfurt, Germany.

His final assignment after 26 years in the Army was as the Commanding Officer, Army Aviation Engineering Flight Activity, Edwars AFB, CA. Col Boyle went to work for Cubic Corporation in 1979 in International Marketing and retired from there in 1992. During his Army career he was awarded the Legion of Merit; Distinguished Flying Cross; Bronze Star Medal for Valor w/two Oak Leaf Clusters; Meritorious Service Medal; 14 Air Medals; Army Commendation Medal w/two Oak Leaf Clusters; Purple Heart; National Defense Medal w/one Oak Leaf Cluster; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation; and the Master Army Aviator Badge. He was a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and the Army Aviation Assoc. of America. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley M. Boyle of San Diego, two daughters, Denise (Craig) Boyle-Church of Mullica Hill, NJ and Teri Boyle of San Clemente, CA. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery, 17 December 1 p.m. with full Military Honors. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at Navy Chapel, North Island NAS, Coronado Thursday Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. Donations may be made in his name to the Army Aviation Assoc.
