More detail on this person: Funeral services for retired Lt. Col. John Hamilton Brien, 60, of Harker Heights will be at 10 a.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with the Rev. Jack Milligan officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Killeen City Cemetery following the service.

Brien died Thursday at Fort Hood hospital.

He was born on April 24, 1932, in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he was reared and educated. He had lived in the local area for 23 years.

Brien retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service. He worked for three years for Bell Textron as a field instrumentation manager and for three years as an energy consultant for the Killeen Independent School District.

Brien was a member of the Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga and the Masonic Lodge in Tennessee. He was a former member and treasurer of the Killeen Riding Club and a member, vice president and former president of the Cen-Tex Modelers.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Brien of Hawker Heights; one son, John Brien Jr. of Hawker Heights; two daughters, Cindy Reinhardt of Killeen and Cathie Brien of Hawker Heights; one brother, Peyton Brien Jr. of Chattanooga; and four grandchildren.
