Memorial services for Eugene W. Burress, 62, Apollo Beach, Fla., former owner of a real estate management firm in North Kansas City, who died Aug. 30, 1991, near Brandon, Fla., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harmony Heights Missionary Baptist Church, Independence.

Mr. Burress was a certified property manager and owned the Mid-States Realty Management Co. Inc. until 1986. He then was a real estate manager in the Tampa, Fla., area. He served in the Army for 24 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1970. He was former director of maintenance at Fort Leavenworth and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was an Episcopalian. He was born in Hornbeak, Tenn., and grew up near Risco, Mo. He lived in the Leavenworth area for 18 years before moving to Florida in 1986. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Burress of the home; two sons, Lowell Burress and Michael Burress of Independence; two daughters, Miriam Hitch, Kansas City, and Katherine Burress of the home; four brothers, James Buress, Hacienda Heights, Calif., Ralph Burress and Wilbur Burress of Washington, Ill., and Elmer Burress, Covi na, Calif.; three sisters, Virginia Cummins, Benton, La., Clara Huffstutter, Union City, Tenn., and Iletha Talley, St. Charles, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 62-year-old Eugene W. Burress of Apollo Beach, Fla., was driving south on Interstate 75.

About 7:05 p.m. Friday, the car went out of control into the median and crashed into a bridge support about one mile south of Brandon.

Burress, the only occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
