More detail on this person: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Gilbert Castillo, born on July 29, 1948, in Los Angeles, California. Surrounded by the love of his family, James departed this world on November 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of courage, dedication, and unwavering love. James, known to many as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and esteemed member of the military and aviation communities, led a life marked by selfless service and a commitment to excellence. He was the beloved husband of Rachel Castillo, sharing a lifetime of love and companionship. Together, they navigated life's challenges and celebrated its joys. As a father, James leaves behind a profound impact on the lives of his sons, Sam and Carlos Castillo. His wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love shaped the men they became, reflecting the values instilled by their father. James took immense pride in his role as a grandfather, finding joy in the laughter and energy of his grandchildren: Ella, Joaquin, Phoebe, and Alexander. He cherished the special moments spent with each of them, creating lasting memories that will endure through generations. A dedicated brother, James is survived by his siblings, Daniel and Genaro Castillo, and sister Ruth Goble. Their bond was unbreakable, a testament to the strength of family ties that endured the tests of time. Professionally, James Castillo forged a remarkable career as a helicopter pilot, retiring with honor from Federal Services. His commitment to duty extended beyond civilian life, as he proudly served and retired from the Army as a CW4.
