More detail on this person: David Allen Carter was killed Sunday April 17th 2011 while riding his motorcycle on Greene Road. He was a dedicated family man who will be greatly missed. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and computers. David was passionate about his 100th Anniversary Screamin' Eagle Harley. He worked as a Program Manager for Lockheed Martin. He is survived by his devoted and much-adored wife Gail Carter; his dearly loved children Donald Paul Carter, Christopher Buffum, Katie Carter-Benitez, Matthew & Lauren Buffum, and Virginia Carter; and his adored grand-children Jayson, Johnathan, Nicole, Vivian, Olivia, Connor, Jacob, Samantha, and Haley. David is also survived by his dear sisters Joan Curtiss, Susan Carter, and Lynne Crestin. David Carter was a decorated US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served his tour of duty in the 101st Airborne Division, piloting his transport helicopter into combat zones to evacuate wounded and endangered soldiers. He saved countless lives during the war, even after having his helicopter shot down. He had received the National Defense Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, and the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster. For his distinguished and meritorious war service, David will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 23, 2011 from 2 to 4 PM at Moser Funeral Home Warrenton, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for medical expense of David's Grandson.
