Corser, Jr., Age 83, resident of Columbus, died on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church on Thursday, December 21, 2006, 10 A.M. Celebrant of the Mass will be Father Mark Van Alstine. Interment will follow at Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA. Rosary will be said on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, 6 P.M. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, with the family receiving friends after rosary till 8 P.M. LTC Corser, son of the late Eber Lawrence Corser, Sr. and Bertha Senecal Corser, was born October 14, 1923 in Hibbing, MN. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church; member of the American Legion, Post # 0489; Cortland, N.Y.; member of the Disabled American Veterans #56; member of the Columbus RC Flyers Club; member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association; and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. LTC Corser began a long and distinguished military career in the Army Air Corp., then the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably for over 30 years as an aviator. He served in both World War II and the Vietnam Era Conflict receiving the Bronze Star, Air Medal with 21 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal for his heroism and bravery to his country. LTC Corser was preceded in death of his wife of 51 years, Margaret Corser. He is survived by four sons, Robert Corser and his wife Dixie of Kemp, TX., James Corser and his wife Debbie of Duluth, GA., Mark Corser and his wife Catherine of Columbus, GA., and Hans Corser and his wife Nancy of Cullman, AL.; one sister, Alice Baldwin and her husband Bob of Reno, NV.; three brothers, Ray Corser of Cortland, NY., Paul Corser and his wife Mariann of Charlotte, NC. And David Corser of Cortland, NY.; eight grandchildren, Robbie, Katrina, Ray, Kristy, Marty, Jessi, Jennifer, and Natalie; two great grandchildren, Margaret Anna, and Madison; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends including a special friend Doris Affolter
