Officer (Retd) Dave Coates passed away this
morning, 28 February 2011, around 7:00am. Dave
has been battling Pancreatic Cancer. He did well
with the surgery but the Chemo and Radiation
Therapy were just too brutal. Dave suffered a
Massive Heart Attack this morning 28 February
2011 around 7:00am in his home. His wife Patricia
and his Grandson were with him. The Medical
Emergency Team was called and they transported
Dave to the hospital but could not revive him. This information was last updated 05/18/2016

Dave's memorial Service will be held 5 March 2011
at 3:00pm in the Osceola Memorial Gardens,
Kissimmee, Florida.
Dave did attend the recent Apache Troop Reunion in
Florida and has said so many times how important
it was to see so many of the Troopers and how
important all of you were to him and to Patricia.

Dave will be truly missed by us all. He was a
Great Guy, Incredible Trooper and an Excellent
Friend. He was a Great Family Man and leaves a
very Sad Family.
Your Friendship now will certainly help Patricia
and her (grown) Children and Grandchildren during
this time of sadness.

In Loving Memory David Alan Coates 3/3/1948 -
2/28/2011
Mr. David Alan Coates, 62, of St. Cloud, FL passed
away on Monday February 28, 2011 at St. Cloud
Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of
Patricia P.C. (Collins) Coates. David was born in
Bluffton, Indiana on March 3, 1948, the son of
Donald and Norma (Hedges) Coates. He retired
from the U.S. Army after proudly serving for 32
years. He served as an Army Aviator in Vietnam,
Gulf War I and Somalia. After retirement, he was
employed as a Subject Matter Expert by Alion
Science and Technology. In addition to his wife,
David is survived by three daughters, Tammy Burke
of Indiana, Shannon Duncan of Panama City, FL,
Marnie Duncan of Newman, GA; three sons, David
Kris (Joy) Coates of Nashville, TN, James
(Martha) Coates of Nashville, TN, and James
Duncan of Panama City, FL. He is also survived
by 10 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild and a
brother, Kenneth (Mary) Coates of Indianapolis,
Indiana. A celebration of David's life with full
military honors will be held on Saturday, March 5,
2011 beginning at 3:00 PM in the funeral home
chapel. A reception will follow after the service
also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a
plant for a memory garden or a donation to any
wounded warrior charity would be appreciated.
