More detail on this person: Robert Wayne Childs Greenwood Commonwealth, The (MS) - Thursday, February 5, 2004 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Robert Wayne Childs, 55, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Greenwood, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in Davenport. He was born July 31, 1948, in Greenwood, son of the late Howard and Carmen Birch Childs. He married Ann Mounger of Sept. 1, 1969, in Greenwood. Mr. Childs served his country as a chief warrant officer in the U.S. Army, serving one tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired as a highly decorated veteran in 1989, after 20 years of service. He then flew as a pilot for the former Eastern Airlines. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Kelley Lynn Childs; and a brother, Frank Birch Rule. He is survived by two daughters, Lorie Myrick and her husband, Michael, of Birmingham, Ala., and Shelley Austin and her husband, Jeremy, of Anniston, Ala.; three sisters, Martha Childs and Mary Catherine Underwood, both of Greenwood, and Deborah Childs Wilt of Gulfport; and a brother, John Childs of Florida. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memphis, Tenn. Burial will be in Memphis National Cemetery.
