More detail on this person: Gary Alva Campbell 1947 - 2021, 73, passed away May 24th 2021 in Provo, Utah from complications from Agent Orange. Born October 7th, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of William C. and Lenna Nielsen Campbell. Married Georgia Keener April 22nd, 1972 in Honolulu Hawaii. They were later sealed in the Washington State Temple June 2nd, 1992. Served as a temple worker at Provo Temple and in many other church callings. After graduation from Utah State University in June of 1970 Gary was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. He soon completed Basic, Rotary Wing Aviator School and Attack Helicopter Training. He then was assigned to the 48th AHC (Blue Stars) in Dong Ha, Republic of South Vietnam. He participated in Operation Lam Son 719 into Laos. Gary was wounded twice and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and 19 Air Medals in aerial combat operations. Gary returned from Vietnam and was assigned to the 9th Aviation Battalion where he served in staff and command positions. Gary received a Regular Army Commission in 1975 and went on to make the Army a career. Gary married the beautiful Georgia Keener and had four great kids. After attending the Command and General Staff College and earning his Master Degree, Gary was assigned to Germany and then Italy. When the Aviation Branch was established, Gary was assigned back to aviation positions. Gary served in Sixth US Army; COMLAND South, NATO; and then I Corps. Gary's last position was serving as an Inspector General. Gary retired in 1992 and went on to become a contractor. He is survived by wife, Georgia; children David Campbell, Heber City; William Campbell, Grand Junction; Stephen Campbell, Heber City; Lynda Campbell, Ogden; 2 grandchildren Sunshine and Tyme Campbell. Preceded by his parents, his brothers William Robert Campbell and David Oscar Campbell. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 29th at 11:00 am at Heber 3rd Ward, 240 East 400 South, Heber City, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, 4 - 6 pm at Heber 3rd Ward, 240 East 400 South, and Saturday at the church 10:00-10:45 am prior to service. Interment, Heber City Cemetery.
