More detail on this person: Randolph Burton "Ra-ndy" Clapp was born March 29, 1938 in Houston, Texas and went to his Heavenly home on December 16, 2017. Randy was preceded in death by his Father, Ely Burton Clapp, his Mother Annie May Beard, sister Bonnie May Schaefer, brother Charles M. Clapp and many of his "Brothers "that he served with during his 20 year U.S. Army career. Randy is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jo Evelyn Stephens Clapp, sons Randolph Clapp II, Timothy Stephen Clapp and David Lynn Clapp and wife, Jennifer. Brothers E.B. Clapp and wife Janie, and brother Michael Bonds along with 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. In March of 1955, Randy joined the U.S. Army and upon completing basic training at Fort Carson Colorado, he returned home to Texas and married his High School sweetheart, Jo Evelyn Stephens. While in the Army, Randy attended many different training schools and completed Officer Candidate School from which he graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant. During his 20-year Army Career he rose to the rank of Major. Randy and his family were stationed at many different Army bases and states including Kentucky, Georgia, Nebraska, Texas, Alabama, Germany and two tours of duty in Viet Nam. After retiring from the Army in 1975, Randy was employed in the Parole Division of the State of Texas for several years. He was fascinated with his Family genealogy and learned many interesting things about them, including that his 9th great grandfather, Roger Clapp, came to America in 1630 in the ship "Mary and John" Through the years between 1630 and1938, the year that Randy was born, many Clapp's were born and were very active in the American History. Randy had many friends in many different areas of Conroe, and he will be missed. The funeral services were performed at the Veterans Cemetery in Houston, where Randy is buried. .
