More detail on this person: NEWBERRY - Lacy Harris Collins, 71, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Palmetto Health Richland. Born on May 26, 1942, in Mullins, he was the son of the late Lacy Woodrow and Iris Ernestine Cooke Collins. He was a graduate of Clemson University, a Vietnam Army veteran and also served in the S.C. National Guard. Mr. Collins was retired from Savannah River Site with Wackenhut Securities. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, member of the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class, the Builders for Christ Mission Team and served on numerous committees. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Smith Collins; a son, Bryan Harris (Jennifer) Collins of Lexington; daughters, Andrea (Jay) Hawkins of Newberry and Jaime (Mike) Teraoko of Irmo and grandchildren, Ethan and Lacy Hawkins and Aaron and Evelyn Teraoko. Mr. Collins was predeceased by a sister, Bonnie Jean Dever. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 25, 2013, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or Builders for Christ Fund, 1020 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
