More detail on this person: Barry B. Chestnut, 68, entered into rest at 10:20 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013, at his home. Born July 7, 1944, in Carlisle, Barry was the son of V. June (Weigle) Adams of Carlisle and the late Kenneth B. Chestnut. Barry, a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, gave over 30 years of service as a Helicopter Pilot and served during the Vietnam War. He and Brenda owned and operated CRE Appraisal Service of Wellsville for over 20 years. Barry was a member of Bermudian Church of the Brethren, Gobin Guards of Carlisle, Wellsville Frontier Days, Dillsburg VFW Post 6771, and Dillsburg American Legion Post 26. In addition to his mother, Barry is survived by "his girls", Brenda L. (Spangler) Chestnut, and two daughters, Kacey L. Baumgardner and husband, Andrew of Dillsburg, and Samantha J. Dowell and husband, Shane of East Berlin; two granddaughters, Emma Baumgardner and Hannah Dowell; a grandson on the way, Brantley Dowell; a sister, Shari Weary and husband, Butch of New Oxford; two brothers, Dennis Chestnut and wife, Roxanne of East Berlin, and Richard Chestnut and wife, Carren of Boiling Springs; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Jennifer Williams. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Barry's Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Bermudian Church of the Brethren, 279 Bermudian Church Road, East Berlin. The viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in Bermudian Church of the Brethren Cemetery, East Berlin, where veteran honors will be presented by York County Veteran's Honor Guard. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Larry Dentler. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the College Education Fund of Chestnut Grandchildren, c/o Bermudian Church of the Brethren, 279 Bermudian Church Road, East Berlin, PA 17316.
