More detail on this person: Vernon Clarkson Vernon Clarkson, 89, of Ellensburg died Monday at home. Mr. Clarkson was born in Pullman, Wash., and served in the Marine Corps during World War II. A career military pilot, he also served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He later lived in Seattle, where he was a school teacher before moving to Ellensburg a number of years ago. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Clarkson of Ellensburg; a daughter, Melinda Clarkson of Las Vegas; and two stepchildren, Niels Nicolaisen of Port Orchard, Wash., and Nicole Nicolaisen of Seattle. Family memorial observation is planned with inurnment to be in Tahoma VA Cemetery in Kent, Wash.. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.
