More detail on this person: Died at his home with his family after a long battle with cancer. In 1967, Charlie was selected to organize, trainn and deploy with 7/1st Cav Sqdn. In 1873 he tool command of the 2nd Bde 1st Cav Div, later renamed the 6th Air Cav Combat Bde. Promoted to BG, he was assigned as the Army Avn Officer and spearheaded the effort to form the Army's aviation branch. In 1981, following assignment as Chief of Staff of 5th Army, Charlie retired to settle in San Antonio. He began his second career as an agent with USPA & IRA, went on to lead the Geronimo District, and transitioned with the Company to First Command. He also served in the Windcrest United Methodist Church, revalidated his pilot's license and took back to the skies, and worked on his golf game. He was preceded in death by his wife Fredrica Dole (Fred). Interment is at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
