More detail on this person: Jesse L. Chancellor|August 17, 2011 Jesup-Jesse L. Chancellor, 70, of Jesup died Aug. 15, 2011, in Wayne Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. The Texas native had lived in Wayne County the past 48 years and was a Baptist. He was a retired union heavy equipment operator and served 13 ½ years as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot in the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Jesup Masonic Lodge. He loved mechanical work and motors and was best known by family and friends for being a loving father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his mother, Anna Lee Chancellor; a sister, Betty Payne; and a grandson, Stac Horton. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Gerana Manning Chancellor of Jesup; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Donald Combs, Teresa and Stacy Horton, and Fenecia and Ryker Carter, all of Jesup; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Cecil and Angie Chancellor of Screven, and David Fox of Houston, Texas; his father, Cecil Irvin Chancellor; two sisters, Margaret Copeland of Houston, Texas, and Mildred James of Santa Fe, Texas; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Todd and the Rev. Vann Dempsey officiating. The American Legion will present the U.S. flag. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) prior to ser vices at the funeral home.
