More detail on this person: Doyle Melton Cooper MEIGS - Doyle Melton Cooper, 72, of Meigs, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4, at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dion Brown officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in New Bethel Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Brent Layton, Robert Brooks, Randy Harvey, Mickey Harvey, Scott Layton and Robert Lee Jacobs. Born March 14, 1941, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Jim Bob Cooper and Sallie Belle Jacobs Cooper. He retired from the United States Army as a chief warrant officer 4 and was a Vietnam War veteran. Survivors include his wife, Jean Marie Layton Cooper of Meigs; one son, Steven Cooper and wife Carrie of Meigs; three grandchildren, Payton Cooper, Amberly Cooper and Aralyn Cooper, all of Meigs; and one great-grandson, Balen Cooper. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, May 3, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
