More detail on this person: Richard D. Caldwell of Acampo died at home July 10, 2010 after a long illness. He was born July 31, 1930 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He graduated from University of Wisconsin in 1954 and entered the military in aviation. He served in the Arctic Circle. He married his wife, Rita L. Johnson in 1956. He earned his MBA at University of Wisconsin in 1957. He returned to military aviation in 1959 and served in Korea, Germany, and Viet Nam. He earned many awards including The Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired in 1979. Later he managed logistics that supported the military. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he served in many capacities including Regional Welfare Agent. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, daughters Anne Burnham of The Woodlands TX, Barbara Caldwell-Wertman of Tucson AZ, Catharine Caldwell and son David M. Caldwell of Acampo and grandchildren, Dan Burnham of Fairfax VA, Heather and Michelle Burnham of The Woodlands TX, Katie Faria of Phoenix AZ, James Caldwell and Megan Caldwell of Acampo and Kenneth Wertman of Tucson AZ. A family service will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. A Memorial Open House will be Saturday July 17 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Caldwell home, 6346 E. Acampo Rd, Acampo.
